The one-year results of this study have been published in the peer-reviewed journal Spine. Most of the patients in the study have been followed for up to six years. The key study results – Fusion Rates, Neck Disability Index (NDI), Neurological Outcome, and Complication Rates – were assessed at 12 months after surgery. Patient enrollment was completed in May 2013 with a total of 319 patients participating in the study. FDA IDE pivotal clinical study was a prospective, randomized, multicenter study comparing i-FACTOR Putty to autologous bone (control) in patients with degenerative cervical disc disease who underwent a single-level instrumented anterior discectomy and fusion procedure. I-FACTOR™ Bone Graft: US FDA IDE Pivotal Study As an engineered product, P-15 quantity and viability remain consistent from lot to lot. I-FACTOR Bone Graft is a peptide bone matrix ( PBM) – a composite bone substitute consisting of a synthetic collagen fragment (P-15) bound to calcium phosphate particles. Unfortunately, the viability of cells in non-vascularized, processed allogeneic bone grafts ( cellular bone matrix) is unknown. Some would suggest that this only occurs when autogenous bone has been implanted immediately or when a bone graft substitute has been enriched with autogenous cells. A bone graft is considered osteogenic if it contains living osteogenic cells that are able to survive in the host environment. Where rhBMPs have been engineered to maintain the growth factors, the processing of DBMs causes significant variability in the amount of osteoinductive factors that remain in the final product. Only a bone graft that is preserved with an osteoinductive factor (e.g., members of the transforming growth factor family) can be considered osteoinductive. An osteoinductive bone graft ( rhBMP, formulated DBM) is defined as a material that can induce the differentiation of mesenchymal cells into osteoblasts. Resorption time, porosity, and mechanical strength can vary widely in this class of products. Whether natural ( allograft, simple demineralized bone matrix) or synthetic ( hydroxyapatite, calcium phosphate), structure is key to an osteoconductive scaffold providing a suitable workplace for bone forming cells. The way a bone grafting technology works depends on many factors including the properties of the graft itself. The novel i-FACTOR Bone Graft “ Attract, Attach, Activate” mechanism of action enhances the body’s natural bone healing process. The high affinity between cells and P-15 supports the physiological mechanism of action in which cells bind to the P-15 and “turn on” to perform their genetically programmed job of making bone. I-FACTOR Bone Graft facilitates and expedites the ingrowth of bone by promoting the migration of mesenchymal stem cells and other progenitor cells from surrounding tissue. These cells have an affinity for and attach to the P-15 found in i-FACTOR Bone Graft in a similar way they would naturally with Type I collagen in bone. This 15-amino acid peptide (P-15) is responsible for the attachment and proliferation of osteogenic cells. I-FACTOR Bone Graft is based on the biological activity of the synthetically derived 15-amino acid peptide found naturally in Type I human collagen. I-FACTOR™ Bone Graft: Mechanism of Action

“There have been a lot of real bad days and bad nights for me and for all our staff over the past few months,” Keka said of the shutdown. So he devoted his energy to pushing forward with plans for Alba on 53, buoyed by his faith in the future of his adopted homeland. Keka in recent months suffered personal and professional distress, as have almost all other restaurateurs during the Covid shutdown. Today, the original Alba is the anchor of Greater Boston’s hottest new dining destination, as some two dozen new eateries have sprung up around it in recent years. Yet Alba survived and prospered, even at a time when Quincy Center itself was down and out. Few observers thought this industry newcomer would make it, especially at that dire period in our nation’s history. Keka opened the original Quincy Center Alba in the fall of 2001, in the immediate aftermath of 9/11, one of the worst times ever for restaurants before Covid. It’s an ambitious opening, even in the best of times, let alone during the era of Covid, spanning 7,500 square feet with seats for up to 240 guests (without Covid restrictions).īut Keka has spent his life beating the odds, both personally and professionally, and believes these experiences have prepared him and his team for the challenges ahead. Alba on 53 opens Monday, a large, beautiful Mediterranean steakhouse from Albanian immigrant restaurateur Leo Keka and the team behind Alba in Quincy Center, a fine-dining landmark for nearly 20 years.Īlba on 53 will feature prime beef, fresh local seafood, open kitchen led by executive chef and Boston restaurant veteran Todd Renner, al fresco dining and a 700-bottle world-class wine list featuring the best in California cabernet and bold Italian reds. A splash of Arab and Eastern Mediterranean flavor will distinguish Alba on 53 from the original Quincy classic. Linda passed away peacefully with her family by her side.Ī celebration of life will be held Apat 1:00 pm at Cherished Memories Funeral Chapel, in Martensville. Her very contagious laughter will be remembered by all that had the honour to meet her and hear it. But what we all will miss the most is that laugh. Their legendary perogies were the biggest hit on the holidays. Linda was not only loved by her and Bernies’s families, (who embraced her so dearly that his siblings called her sister), but by her closest and dearest friend, the late Lynda Salahub Together they spent a lot of time socializing and making perogies for extra money. If you accepted, you were usually on the receiving end of a big loss that she was not afraid to let you know about. When Linda was with family and friends, you would be hard- pressed not to find her challenging you to a game of Rummy, Crib, Dice, or Kaiser. Her hobbies of gardening, crocheting, and cooking were all loved by everyone that had the privilege of enjoying them. She would spend hours searching the city for just the right plants to fill her flower garden. Linda loved bowling and for many years she could be found with her friends, playing in a league at Fairhaven Bowl. She was embraced by her Texas family and enjoyed the break from the Saskatchewan weather in the warm Texas sun. Mike was sure to have a new stop planned for her each time she arrived, so that every trip felt like a new one. This became her annual destination where she could spend precious time with Tanya, and her newly acquired family. Linda found another joy and getaway when her daughter Tanya got married and moved to Texas. She was sure to bring her bush pie and card skills with her. Linda kept her love for lake life alive, enjoying her trips to Turtle Lake with Dean and his family, and back to Candle with Kim and her family. Days were filled with boating, beach time, and cooking bush pies around the campfire while the sun set. Many happy memories were made there with Bernie’s brother Terry and wife Libby, as well as their close friends Fay and Brian. When her children were young, summers were usually spent at Sandy Bay Campground at Candle Lake. When they were grown, she decided she wasn’t done! She took on the responsibility of running a before and after-school program where she brought joy and love to all of her kids. She made it a priority to be a stay-at-home mom for her 3 children. Throughout their marriage, they built a life together in Saskatoon where they purchased a house on Steeves Ave where they resided for 46 years. Her daughter Kim (Sean) grandchildren Rylee, Kaitlyn and Baylie and her daughter Tanya (Mike) grandchild Drew (Ashliegh), as well as her beloved dog Bella. Her son Dean (Colleen) grandchildren Jackson and Paige. Linda is survived by her husband of 54 years Bernie, and 3 loving children. She met and married her first love Bernie Michalenko on October 19, 1968. She was born in Saskatoon where she resided throughout her life. Linda was predeceased by her parents Ralph and Esther Beckett. It is with profound sadness that the family of Linda Mary Michalenko announces her sudden passing, on Apat the age of 73. Although Connor’s time with us was far too short, his spirit and love will remain with us always.Ĭelebration of Life Service will be held Wednesday, at 3:00 pm at Cherished Memories Funeral Chapel, 591 Centennial Dr N, Martensville, SK. He will always hold a special place in everyone’s hearts. His memory and cherished stories will live on forever. There are no words to express how much Connor will be missed. Connor had an exceptional ability to fix anything just by looking at it. He loved being outdoors, fishing, barbecuing, and he was always willing to lend a helping hand. Connor was also an aspiring heavy-duty mechanic, and he had plans to travel the world after moving to Calgary. He was never shy about expressing his love and appreciation for them. Connor was passionate about his friends and loved them like they were family. As Connor would say, he had some “deadly stories” to tell. He was the life of the party and was always up for a good time. Ask anyone who knew Connor and they’ll likely have a funny story or memory to share. He also leaves behind his devoted and loving mother, Jennifer, a hundred friends that he called family, a loving family, including and his second family, the Bird/Husak family. Connor is survived by his big sister, Mckara, and big brother Keith, who were the best siblings he could have asked for. His caring and kind nature left an everlasting impact on those who were fortunate enough to know him. He had a heart of gold and was loved deeply by everyone he encountered. Connor’s contagious laugh and bright smile lit up every room he entered. Most browsers (mobile or otherwise) enable you to choose sizes and font styles, creating a natural workaround if you don’t mind using Twitter through browsers. You cannot choose your font type on the native app (which might be an issue if you prefer sans-serif over serif fonts). The mobile version allows no font-size customization. Twitter, by comparison, enables switching between five different font sizes on the desktop version. It is one less step from the “copy and paste” transaction you need to go through usually. Tweetbot also has a solid Google Translate integration. The Mac version enables you to choose any available Mac font type and any available font size. Tweetbot enables you to switch between nine font sizes on the mobile version. Regarding font customization options, Tweetbot and Twitter are relatively similar. The “noir” themes are dark versions of the same app icons. You can also choose between multiple icon themes to change icon types within the app: Tweetbot is limited to Mac and iOS devices with light and dark versions of the following themes: The desktop version enables you to switch between six font sizes and these colors: The mobile version has no choice of colors. Here are your options: Twitter Basic Desktop and Mobileīoth desktop and mobile Twitter have three brightness options: While the desktop version of this has a dim mode and your choice between six colors, additional themes are available on Tweetbot. The Twitter application enables you to switch between light and dark modes. If you like to avoid ads (like most of us do), Tweetbot is a great alternative. While you can follow some trending topics with Twitter, there is no keyword-based filter tab.Īnother plus of Tweetbot is that the tool doesn’t show ads that would otherwise show up on Twitter’s native app. With two taps, you can switch between your chosen filters.
